Pssst, buddy … yeah you … you need a TV?

I’m selling my 27″ Sony WEGA flat-tube STDV on craigslist.com. If you’re in the market for an inexpensive TV, with a matching stand for your DVD player, cable box, etc, go check it out. Why am I selling such an awesome TV? Why, I stood in line at Best Buy at zero-dark-thirty on Black Friday to get me one of these!

I have officially signed up for the 2007 AIDS LifeCycle event. In June, Blake and Paul and I will join hundreds if not thousands of other cyclists, and ride 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Please go to the site and browse around, find out more about the event and the beneficiaries. As soon as I get info I will be asking for donations … I’ve committed to raising $2500 for the event. Please help!

It’s going to be an amazing experience. This will be the first time I’m on a bicycle instead of a motorcycle, for one of these. ;)

Came home to BK today, to find continued fantastic weather … up to 57 and sunny. So of course I just got back from riding some loops in Prospect Park. It’s amazing, being abl eto ride comfortably when it’s almost December, without any real winter-weather gear (just some wooly leg warmers and a windbreaker). Life, she is good, I am so happy …

I forgot to mention that Cindy let me borry her Cannondale cyclocross for the ride with Jeff yesterday. Looks kind of like this, but a year old and with muuuch better accessories. Like a hot pink Chris King hub. :) I have GOT to get me one of these cyclocross bikes!

This is about much more than cycling, of course — there being a whole 4-day Thanksgiving weekend in progress — but the cycling was today and is frontal-lobe material. :)

Jeff and I rode in PA today … we got a late start (something about staying up all night playing Gears of War, an annual tradition), around 1330h, but the sun was out, the skies were clear, and the temps started out at 60. They fell to 50 by the end of the ride, sadly, but it was soooo good to get out again this late in the season. We did some sweet rural roads and then cut through the gravel and dirt trails at Fairmount Park … it was a lot like peoplecross, dodging all of the peds and cyclists out for post-Turkey rambles and rides. But it was glorious. We flew up and down the rollers, in and out of the mud, through the slanty sunshine, to the end of the park … then turned around and headed the other way. We stopped at a Starbuck’s on the way home, at the top of Chestnut Hill, and my thighs were generating so much heat once I was standing in there, it was silly. Only 24 miles in all, but we were rockin’ the speeds up and down those hills.

So what else? Beyond the marathon Xbox 360 session. Yesterday, another tradition was celebrated (and taken way beyond norms) when Jenny, Mom and I did Black Friday. I love shopping on Black Friday — the crowds are massive, the lines are stupendously long, but it’s just a blast. Humanity in all its extremes. Well, this time we got up at 0330h and drove out to Best Buy to try for one of those “doorbuster” deals. I went for a 32″ LCD HDTV from Westinghouse, and Jenny got all excited so she wanted one too. Mom was there for moral support. :) We got there at 0500h, and the line was around the store. Things looked bleak, but everyone was cheerful, everyone was polite. Jenny and I actually were two spots in line from the “pay me now for a piece of blue paper” spot, the golden ticket spot, when they sold out. But an entrepreneur who had been in line all night sold me a golden ticket for that very TV for $25 cash, so I got it … and Jenny ended up going for a killer deal on a 42″ Samsung plasma HDTV. Go Jenny!

From there we rolled around King of Prussia mall, buying and waiting in lines. We ate Chik-Fil-A. Life was good.

Back it up a day to Thanksgiving … Jenny and I did some yoga at Mom’s before chowing down on turkey at Linda and Denny’s. Kevin & Dolores were there with Isaiah and Elijah, Jolene and Dave were there with Heather and Sarah and Zack, and Bryan and Leann came by with Alyssa and Alex and Noah. There were kids everywhere! And they were laughing and running and playing and throwing and it was fantastic. :)

Pics will be up when I return to Bklyn, so tune in tomorrow night!

Last night we played Marcus’ team in our home bar, Nice Guy Eddie’s. We lost the night 2-3, but we took it all the way to the final hill-hill match where Marcus’ only safety of the night snookered Jamal. Sigh. I had a shot of winning my match as well, vs a 3, but I just couldn’t run out the 8 on the hill match. Ah well. Pics are up here!

This weekend was great … I got new tars for the Ranguh, got me hairs cuttled, saw Tommy “Guitar” Conwell at the Comet, and went with Jeff and Brian to see Army of Anyone at the TLA on South Street in Philly. Great band (like Filter? like STP?), a kickin’ live show, and the opening act featured two dudes playing three instruments (four if you count vocals). Sunday, thought was the piece de resistance … Jeff took me and Cindy down to White Clay Creek state park in Delaware for some mountain biking. Yes, it was far, and yes, it was cold, but it was neither too far nor too cold for us to have an absolute blast. It took me at least an hour to get used to riding on a MTB again, but once my brain flipped over I was flying, and loving life. Except for the last round of hills.

Pics are up!

Now I just hope it wasn’t the last hurrah of the season. :)

What’s in the water in Brazil? A cat allegedly gave birth to half-breed puppies/kittens after mating with the sneaky neighbor’s dog. Question: if Felis silvestris catus has 38 chromosomes, and the sneaky neighbor’s Canis lupus familiaris has 78, how many will the surviving kuppies have?

Yes, this question is strikingly similar to a question on last night’s difficult Bio exam. Whew, I’m glad that’s over. I’ll let y’all know how I did.

If you thought hippies and protein transcription were the be-all of science, well, have we got something for you. Just to keep you on your toes, we’re switching up the format and moving to football. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel tells us how photosynthesis keeps his players on their toes. SFW of course, funny, and educational!
